I love Working. Not that you can call having an online business working….
let me explain that, there is no manual labor involved – and I love what I do. So is it work?
Some may argue that it is. I on the other hand don’t think so.
Don’t get me wrong sometimes there is long hours and you don’t get to bring a penny home. But that is the true meaning of being entrepreneurs. Nothing is promised. And if you do nothing you get nothing.
This lesson is hard to learn for a lot of people – Good people – Smart People. But let’s face facts the entrepreneurs spirit isn’t for everyone. That’s ok. Just because someone may fail at being a traffic exchange owner or a text ad exchange owner doesn’t mean you can’t learn from the whole experience.
To me seeing a traffic exchange just close is sad it really is. The owner is so worried about what other owners think of them that at no point did they look at why the site failed.
More often than not it comes down to 3 things to why an online business will fail – Time, Money, or Reputation.
Its always a numbers game the more people that see your ads the more you will grow ………..
The better your ads are the more effective your marketing will be………….
The more you track and refine your marketing efforts the better the ROI……….
Build your program or system First and foremost – aka your membership or your list
and No matter what anyone tells you BE different – be the black goose or the albino buffalo.
Now get out there spend some money and time to Build a reputation and get seen today.

A great post James and Sooo True too… if you spend all your time worrying about what others think of you, then you’ll have no time or energy left for what is Really important…Your Members. They are what will make or break you as an exchange owner. In this business, just like an Offline business it’s your Members or Customers that you want to be happy, and while Most other owners will help & encourage you (the ones who realize that competition is actually Healthy for everyone) there will always be those who will try to Discourage you… you need to decide in your Own head that you Can do this and just ignore the Naysayers. Keep trying different things to make Your exchange unique & interesting.

I have been wrong a few times in this business – but my job is to grow from that and fix what i need to to move forward. Its not always easy but if you have some thick skin and a budget and the drive you are going to grow.
and time is money the more time you spend thinking about what others may say the more money and time you loose doing nothing
you can only win if you play and play hard
One statement you say strikes me as very true:

So many times I have seen a site launch with their ads everywhere, then, two weeks later, you never see or hear a peep from them. It is NOT up to the membership to build your site – it is up the the owner. It’s your business. You, the business owner, are the one who should be advertising constantly to grow your business.

thank you for the comment I agree the owner plays a big role in making sure the site is getting out not only for the benefit of the site but of the other hard working members. and owner is the first person to promote a site and the last to stop.
if members like a site they might promote it but
if they love it you will never get them to stop recommending it.
and if they dont like it ….. well they will never do a thing (including closing the account)
Love that post James… You are right, it is work but because you love it the hours just fly by…It is so important to make it a priority, so you know each day what needs to be done to keep growing and moving forward. Once you begin to slack, your business will to. I work both a JOB and do my online business. There is no comparison. Once you find something you love to do, you need to find a way to make a living with it. It is such a gift when you can enjoy what you do. That alone will make you work harder to make it happen.
